3685556 is the gasket for ISX15 EPA2010 DEF sensor adapter, it is located on the lower right part of the front cover.
Diesel exhaust/emission fluid (DEF) is in one of the emission control groups, it is consumed in selective catalytic reduction (SCR) that lowers the concentration of NOx from a diesel engine.
Typically, DEF injector is located outside of the exhaust pipe that is connected to the SCR device, when the exhaust passes through the exhaust pipe, DEF is injected and mixed with the gas to react into ammonia (NH3) and then passes through SCR where the nitrogen oxides(NOx) is converted to diatomic nitrogen(N2) and water, what we call, zero emission.
